The Project of Taiwan-Denmark Environmental Education Cooperation and the Cross-field Caring for the Environment Design Competition 2016

Facing the challenge of climate change, concern for the environment has become the basic literacy that everyone should have and the common goal of the world. In order to actively expand the participation level of environmental education and the possibility of diversification to pursue the innovation of environmental education, 2016 Taiwan-Denmark environmental education cooperation program was held to view the development of Taiwan environmental education with the theoretical level, practical level, and value connotation. The INDEX: Design To Improve Life team was invited to pragmatic exchange with environmental education-related institutions and places in Taiwan. Through the depth investigation by INDEX for Taiwan’s environmental education development, the direction and plan of the Taiwan-Denmark environmental education workshops were designed to meet the needs for different regions and types in Taiwan. Through the workshops held in Taiwan the Nordic teaching techniques, and Design Compass, developed by INDEX were conducted to train the environment education seed teachers. In order to make the results of environmental education more concrete and expand the influence impact, the 2nd 2017 Cross-field Caring for the Environment Design Competition was held continually. Not only imported the idea of “pragmatic, hands-on implementing and problem solving-oriented” but also combined with innovative teaching methods into our environmental education which can bring up the concept and life practice of "environmental care", "cross-field innovation" and "creative and pragmatic" to young people and students. This program was promoting and conducting through cross-field caring for the environment design, design achievement exhibition, online voting activity, participate the INDEX: AWARD 2017 international competition, Taiwan-Denmark environmental education visit, and related media publicity. These activities open the door of cross-field environmental education interaction, increase the content of environmental education and create a prospective development of Taiwan's environmental education.
